Letter written on 26 Jan 1961
This is one of hundreds of letters Osho wrote to Ma Anandmayee, then known as Madan Kunwar Parakh. It was written on 26th January 1961 in Sagar on his personal letterhead stationery of the day: The top left corner reads: Rajneesh / Darshan Vibhag (Philosophy Dept) / Mahakoshal Mahavidhalaya (Mahakoshal University). The top right reads: Nivas (Home) / Yogesh Bhavan, Napiertown / Jabalpur (M.P.). Many of his letters on this letterhead have had the number 115 added in by hand before "Yogesh Bhavan" to complete his address, but not this one.
Of the various hand-written numbers or marks that have been found in earlier letters, this has only a pale blue squiggle, whose significance is not yet understood. Osho's usual salutation, "प्रिय मां", Priya Maan, Dear Mom, has been modified to "पूज्य मां", Pujya Maan, Revered Mother.
The date has been put up top, along with "Sagar" and "Ganatantra Diwas", or Republic Day. Osho arrived here to give a lecture and to inaugurate a house of commercial establishment. Then he will visit a college in Damoh for delivering lecture on "Jeevan Sadhana aur Adarsh Shiksha ka Svarup". Finally he will return back to Jabalpur on 30th after inaugurating a Exhibition on Literatures at Kundalpur.
This letter has been published in Bhavna Ke Bhojpatron Par Osho (भावना के भोजपत्रों पर ओशो), on p 76 in the 2002 Diamond edition. The book, or at least that edition, has some transcription errors, including putting the year as 1969 and rendering the salutation as "प्रिय मां", Priya Maan.
