Sw Gyan Bhed was born in UP, India, in 1935. He got his Masters degree in Hindi Literature at Allahabad University in 1956, following which he took a government job but kept up his interest in literature, even writing and publishing five Hindi novels under the pseudonym Shrikant Mittal, called Chakker Chunav Ka, Nakwale, Numaish, Cactus Ke Van and Hare Hue Log. Additionally, he published two satire collections, Khuda Kair Kare and Zindagi Rat Ki Bahon Main and one poetry collection, Bardashi Ke Bahar.
Taking sannyas in 1992 made his writing more easy-flowing and led to the enormous project beginning in 1993 of compiling a biography of Osho. He traveled throughout India to meet and talk with sannyasins and others associated with Osho to absorb their stories, and read documents, including Osho's books and journals. The result was the stupendous nine-volume Hindi set, Ek Fakkar Masiha Osho (also rendered in Latin alphabet as Fakkad, Phakkad, and Messiah, in various combinations), having some 3600 pages in all. That series was condensed and translated into English as The Rebellious Enlightened Master Osho, published in 2006.
Since EFMO, Gyan Bhed has also written six more Hindi books on Osho and translated Just Like That into Hindi, as Satguru Samarpan. The other books are Osho Hee Osho Vol I and II, Dhyan Aur Prem Ki Masiha, Buddhatwa Khara Bazar Mein, Chal Osho Ke Gao Mein and Dhyan Prem Ki Chahon Mein.
