Talk:New Earth Records

About "In 1993, the company name changed to New Earth Records, Inc. due to a copyright dispute in Germany", wouldn't this more likely have been a trademark issue? A copyright issue might have involved their use of the swan image in their logo say, but for that they could just change their logo. If "copyright" is what they called it, maybe they can clarify. We should not be confusing these two things here. -- doofus-9 16:58, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

That's funny, I had exactly the same thought. So I asked Bhikkhu, which he already answered:

The name conflict in Germany was just that there was another music company in Germany with the Tao name which sent us a letter through a lawyer demanding that we do not use the name anymore. On reflection we decided to change the name to New Earth. In retrospect that was the right decision, since we later moved to the US and we were only hanging on to the name Tao Music since this came from Osho. Not sure how you would clarify this. But it is not such a big deal.

So indeed, this seems to have been a TM issue. I will try to clear it up with him. --Sugit (talk) 18:10, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Excellent! It looks like the confusion between © and ™ exists at the highest levels. Ve must vork to stamp zis out! -- doofus-9 18:32, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Yes, well, but still I thought of it first. --Sugit (talk) 19:11, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
