This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Albert Vischherr. It is "Exhibit A-1910" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am 45 years old, married and father of two children of school age. After many years of studies in psychology and social work I have been working for the government of the canton Zurich for the past 7 years. My work consists of material and psychological help to families, children and youths in crisis situations.

It is obvious that the quality of my sometimes very hard work depends of my own physical and psychic condition. Many people in my profession risk to compensate in negative ways like psychopharmaca or alcohol!

I have been a sannyasin for almost one year. I have experienced Bhagwan's various techniques and therapies to keep my physical, mental and psychic health, both in my private and in my professional life. It is thanks to Bhagwan's meditations, thanks to his positive thinking and thanks to the many healthy and good-natured people I meet at the Bhagwan centre in Zurich that my general condition is more and more improving. It is obvious that this has the best effect in my family life, as well as in my profession.

I hope that Bhagwan Shree Rashneesh will be give the final permit to stay in the United States and I would be extremely grateful to you if vou could help him in this.
