This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Augusto Sabbadini PhD. It is "Exhibit A-482" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Frosini, July 10, 1983

To whom it may concern.

The Cooperativa Miasto, running a 400 acres organic farm in Siena, Italy, aims at implementing a harmonious relationship between human beings and nature through the study and practice of organic farming, the production of natural fertilizers and research about balanced ecosystems and appropriate technology.

As the President of the Cooperativa and as an environmental researcher I had the opportunity to greatly appreciate the contribution given to ecological consciousness, among other modern spiritual and religious leaders, such as Rudolf Steiner and H.H. the Dalai Lama of Tibetan Buddhism, by the religious Master Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. In his books, Rajneesh works from a very wide, encompassing humanistic perspective towards fostering a new consciousness about wholeness, harmony, balance and non violence in oneself and in one's relationship to nature. The actualization of his ideas in the city of Rajneeshpuram, Oregon, as described in the literature I have come in contact with, offers an outstanding and, to my knowledge, unparalleled example of the effort towards an ecologically conscious and culturally innovative society.

I believe that the study of the writings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and of the Rajneeshpuram example can be extremely helpful and stimulating for all those who are concerned with a wholistic approach to environmental problems and with the future of our society.

The President
