This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from B. Rijnhout. It is "Exhibit A-1052" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

19 -7-'83

To whom it may concern,

At first I shall introduce myself:

I am B.Rijnhout, born at 28-1-'42 in Amstelveen.

After the primary school I did the High School (called HBS B) followed by the Higher Technical School for the Ready-to-Wear industry in Amsterdam.

I have worked about 8 years just in the Industry as well as in the Retail Trade as factory leader and as a buyer.

In the beginning of the seventies I started to study Social Psychology at the VU in Amsterdam.

Since '74 I am working as a "labour specialist". It 's my duty to bring out advise about them, who are unable to do their own work and I try to reintegrate them. Besides I have to advise in matters as supplies for "invalids".

Daily I have to work with social and mental problems.

For this reason I believe it is my duty that I have to know much more than usual about cultures, religions, social behaviour, motivation, drives and so on.

In this way I have been brought in contact with Bhagwan movement and his tremendou influence at a lot of people in a good way.

The outstandingly abilities of Bhagwan have a great influence on our society and at many places sarcasme changed in sympathy and even enthousiasm.

I really hope that he will be able to continue his work on his way.

It is thereforethat I request emphatically to provide him a visa for his residence in America.

Yours truly,
[signed]
B.Rijnhout
