This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Bonnie R. Neuman. It is "Exhibit A-2215" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Bonnie R. Neuman
Lawyer and Mediator
Certified Family Law Specialist
July 18, 1983

To whom it may concern:

I am an attorney licenced to practice law in the State of California for the past seven years and have been certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California. I have served on numerous family law judicial committees and regularly served as an official Mediator to the Los Angeles Superior Court.

I am a founding director of a non-profit corporation called Divorce Mediators, Inc. and have lectured in the community at countless conferences and professional seminars.

I became acquainted with Bhagwan Rajneesh over five years ago and have read most of his books and listened to a great many of his tapes and have found them to be a great source of inspiration and direction in my life. He is an exceptional leader and many of my professional friends have also become acquainted with his works and find them a great help in their lives. We acknowledge him as a great religious and spiritual leader of our time and feel grateful to have him in our country.

Sincerely,
[signed]
