This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Evi Huber. It is "Exhibit A-1415" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Rajneeshpuram, OR 97741
July 23 1983

To whom it may concern.

Having searched for years and years in many different fields for answers to the question what life is all about, I would like to tell you what I think of this man called Bhagwan.

I studied for five years Psychology, Psychopathology, and Philosophy at the University and the "Eidgenossische Technische Hochschule" in Zurich, Switzerland. I worked with maladapted children and with psychiatric patients in different institutions and also in modern Therapeutic Communities. Always I was looking out for more human and more effective ways to help these people. In this way I came in the year 1980 across Bhagwan’s ashram in Poona.

Bhagwan combines different modern therapeutic means like Bioenergetic, Gestalt Dance and Creativity, Primal therapy, and many more with the knowing that every person in a deep way already knows what is needed to be done - that every person always has a deep beauty and wisdom within himself. The only thing that is needed is to help him to turn inwards and to encourage him to look and see.

The other very strong healing force working in every therapy but which I find uniquely strong and clear in the field around Bhagwan is love, that is all this incredible forms of energy we human beings are able to give to each other.

Going this way of looking inside and going out and sharing you are bound to make what you might call religious experiences, beauty and Ahh beyond men , beyond everything you ever knew.

So it comes that Bhagwan attracts more and more people that are not looking for therapeutical help but just have a longing to grow as human beings. I was looking for more effective therapeutical methods and came across a man who is much more than a teacher of science, he is a teacher of life. I had dreamed about finding somebody like this but never thought that it could come true.
