IVAN DE MOT
SINT JANSTRAAT 4
B - 8140 STADEN
BELGIUM
JULY 17, 1983

I, Ivan De Mot, am a pharmaceutical chemist; I have done my studies at the RIJKSUNIVERSITEIT, GHENT, BELGIUM (1964 - 1970). I have already ten years' of experience as the owner of a large pharmacy in Staden, Belgium.

I feel to write this letter because I would like to state how I met Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and what he means to me. I heard for the first time of him from a yoga teacher who gave me some books of Bhagwan's religious teachings in Poona. He combined the ultra modern western things with the teachings of Buddha and Jesus.

So, after, running my pharmacy, something has changed - the quality of doing it. I am working now in a space of more freedom because I can give the people now just a little bit more than medicine.

I am convinced that no other person than Bhagwan can show his insight to EVERYONE in such a short and easy way. He is an incredibly fantastic person.

So that is what I like to tell you in a few words. Thanks.

Yours sincerely
This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ivan D e Mot. It is "Exhibit A-2200" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.
