This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from J. M. Teire. It is "Exhibit A-1871" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern,

I am writing this letter as support for Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and the woik that he is doing to help people better understand themselves and the world in which they live. My own contact with this is through his writing and through people who are involved in the many activities. In addition, my own work is influenced by many of the ideas and concepts about which he talks. This work is the training and development of managers in industry, commerce and government. In particular, it is the development of awareness, understanding and skills, to manage themselves and work effectively with other people. I have been doing this work for over ten years, and have been in contact with all levels of management in different industries and functions.

My understanding of Rajneesh is that he has wisdom and clarity of vision, and that he wishes to help others have the same. The way in which he does this, and the activities that he uses, are not essential in themselves, but are fitting to the age, and to what people can relate to. However, from the outside, they can be misunderstood, and the more important and simple message behind them missed. My experience of using some of these ideas, as much as I understand them, is that they give people a more peaceful life with less conflict and stress, for themselves and others, both at work and at home.

Without doubt the energy which surrounds Rajneesh and produces effects in many countries of the world, indicates that he is an exceptional man. He seems to use this energy for the good of others. Not unnaturally any action has a reaction, and reactions can be seen to what is for many a different way of thinking and relating to others.

In essence, Rajneesh appears to be doing good and to avoid doing evil.
