This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Dr. John W. Harrison. It is "Exhibit A-193" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

JULY 18 1983.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

I am a medical practitioner practising in the field of the psychological basis of physical disease. I have been trained as an M.D. in Australia, Europe and the United States.

I am considered to be one of the foremost authorities in my field in this country.

I am a member of the International Transactional Association, registered in California, and the International Academy of Preventative Medicine, registered in Kansas.

I have written a book on the psychological basis of physical disease which will be simultaneously published by the publisher Angus and Robertson in Australia and the United Kingdom in March 1984.

Over the past ten years of my training in this field of medicine I have had considerable contact with sanyassins and the teachings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

I have found the writings of Rajneesh to be at the forefront of understanding in the relationship between mind and body, the cornerstone of this work.

I consider Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to be a great scholar in the area of human relationships and personal contentment, two areas which will in the next decade be much pursued as the causes of much physical illness.

Please contact me should you require any further information,

Yours Sincerely,
[signed]
JOHN W. HARRISON MD.
