This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Kathleen W. Kelly. It is "Exhibit A-2357" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am employed as an assistant professor in the department of nursing at the University of Massachusetts at Amhurst. I am a graduate of Columbia University B.S. 1968, University of Connecticut MS 1974. I am presently a doctoral candidate in education Ph.D expected 1984. I am a member of sigma theta tau (national nursing honor society) phi beta kappa and pi lamda theta (national education honorary societies). I have taught in Universities at the Graduate and Undergraduate levels since 1974.

In my doctoral studies I had a concentration in the areas of history and philosophy of education. I am quite familiar with the great educators of the world and their works. In 1981 I started reading the religious works of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. He impressed me as a man of superior intelligence and insight. He has much to say about how to educate human beings to be loving, creative, positive forces in the world. His vision is complemented by practical ideas of how to go about educating people in a humane way.

I have incorporated his ideas into my philosophy of teaching. As a result, I feel I have experienced a great deal of success in my work with students and clients in the health field.

Sincerely,
[signed]
Kathleen W. Kelly
