This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Amito. It is "Exhibit A-2568" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

MA AMITO
MIASTO RAJNEESH - 53010 FROS1NI (SI) ITALY

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN :

I received the initiation from Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh at the age of 26, in a moment when my life did not have much sense anymore: the degree in philosophy that I had scarcely obtained did not fulfill any of my deepest aspirations, life how it was happening around and within me didn't seem to me.

The dream to transform myself, to live in another way, to go in the country, to build something new ...

To meet Bhagwan was finding a source of life and love in which everything began to take again a concrete sense, not only being with my dreams. By and by, listening to his words and being in his presence was like coming back to life.

I have been living since 3 years now in Miasto, a community of Bhagwan in Tuskany, Italy, together with more than 30 other sannyasins. The "dream" of my life is coming true, we are living and creating and searching ourselves, in the name of our Master, with the help of our Master. I am discovering day by day that life is something immense, of infinite wealth and that each and every day I can go beyond my miseries, my individualism, my desperation and to search with the others, in myself and in the others, a potential of creativity and life never even imagined before. I was in Oregon twice in these last two years for the Master's Day Celebration - I had the immense luck to see again Bhagwan and to be in his presence during Satsang and Darshan. To feel in the infinite silence of his presence the certainty that it is possible to grow beyond oneself, towards love and compassion is for me what Bhagwan shows us with his presence, with his silence. The living examples are his places, his communities, the meaning of our daily prayer that each sannyasin expresses at the beginning and at the end of their day.
