This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Chit Ageya. It is "Exhibit A-2541" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it my concern:

My meeting with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh four years ago changed my life and my vision of life fundamentally. After having finished my studies in chemistry, I was working as a research assistent at the university of Berlin, and I was completely frustrated and fed up with the style of working "together" there: ambition, competition, impossibility to find a real cooperation and friendship (?) among students. The idea that the only way to change the situation was to change myself I had had for a long time, but only when I became a disciple of Shree Rajneesh, I found the strngth to do it. I have lived in a German Rajneesh community, in the Shree Rajneesh Ashram in Poona, and for three years, I have been living in an Italian agricultural commune of Sannyasins; last year and also this year, I participated in the July celebrations at Rajneeshpuram/ Oregon. In every Rajneesh commune I experienced the same spirit: to search for myself, who I am, and from this point of view, to understand and cooperate with the others, to look at them not as concurrents and enemies, but with comprehension and friendship.

I became a disciple of Shree Rajneesh without ever having seen Him or having talked to Him, i.e. without a "personal" relationship. In the beginning, it was just a "feeling", but slowly I started to understand that the connection between an Enlightened Master and His disciple is really not at all based on words; it is rather a communion in silence, and, after my experience of Satsang at Rajneeshpuram -a silent meditation in His presence- I would say: only in silence.
