This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Deva Tharsita. It is "Exhibit A-1565" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Ma Deva Tharsita
Via Giotto
9/5 Portogiuaro
(VE) Italy
20 July 1983

To whom it may concern

I have a diploma as visiting nurse of the City Hospital, SS Giovanni and Paolo, Venice, Italy, since 1970. I worked for two years at the City School, then at the psychiatric community centre of Portogiuaro, Venice for five years, and then for seven months at the Anti-Drugs Center of Mestre, Venice.

When, in Poona in 1976, I started practising Bhangwan's meditation, I immediately felt that He must be the greatest psychiatrist in the world, and also that His knowledge of the human soul goes beyond any psychological science.

As a matter of fact, Bhagwan has never denied the great contribution made by Freud and others to the science of psycho-analysis, but He has emphasized that this is just the first step and that another step is needed.

My interest in human beings has deepened since I have become a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, and its expressions in the individual and social manifestations have been greatly enriched.
