This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society.  July 23, 1983 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s stay in the U.S.A, is at the moment a precious point for all sannyasins and many people in the world. Using the silence and His presence as the major aspect for leading his disciples - many doubts have arisen by the responsible people, who are concerned with his visa. Before I came to Bhagwan - 1980 - I was studying for many years psychology, sociology and education and was using also many techniques for discovering my own self or truth -like practising yoga, doing Zen meditation and primal therapy. Before I went to Poona I was teacher in a high school, mother and housewife. The first time when I read books of Bhagwan at once my feeling was, that he is a really outstanding person with such a tremendous insight, who has combined so many various aspects like religion, science, art, love, meditation harmoniously. But to come in contact with His presence, like I have done it in Poona staying in this energyfield, having Darshan, hearing His discourses and sitting silently with Him during Satsang was much more than I ever could expect. It changed my whole lifestyle and understanding of life. I never could feel so much love and understanding than staying with Him and it seems that it is going deeper and deeper. Words cannot describe the depth that I felt and went into, when I was in satsang with Him during the festival last year and this year in Rajneeshpuram. Worshipping here, I could feel that the people here are creating a commune with so much love, care and understanding, that is only possible because of being in a deep communion with a Master. His silence is such a creative force here, that anyone who is sensitive and open can feel it and enjoy it. I feel that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s stay here in the U.S.A. is a great support and gift to the country and His citizens because of His extraordinary wisdom and knowledge about art, science and religion.
