Testimonial letter from Ma Marga Neeraj

This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. This letter is from Ma Marga Neeraj (Doris Zenger-Mächter). It is "Exhibit A-2707" in the Noles collection.

The original letter was handwritten in German, a text transcription has not yet been created. A text version of its translation has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription.

translation To whom it may concern My name is Ma Marga Neeraj - legal name Doris Zenger-Mächter. I am married (my husband is not a Sannyasin) and I have a 3-year-. old daughter. I took Sannyas 3 months ago. How it all started? - It is difficult to say, but i'll try: In the autumn of 1982 I attended Shiatsu lessons in the center in Zurich. It was there that I began to realize how things started to happen inside of me. I also started to read about Bhagwan but then I just let it all be until I went to the follow-up courses in spring '83. The moment I entered the center i felt a wave of energy, happiness and love rolling over me. And everything started again. Thereafter I really studied this wise man from India much more intensively. Many facts encouraged me to become a Sannyasin, but there were as many to discourage me. I had never liked the idea of worshipping persons - and here there was one who even had 26 Rolls Royces! But on the other hand his talkings touched my heart. I then made a decision, thinking that I would learn through experience whether it was right or wrong. Well, and that's what I am doing right now, so I can't really tell yet. Through meditation I get closer to his wisdom, and I start to feel more and more at home in my body.
