Testimonial letter from Ma Prem Anastasia

This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. This letter is from Ma Prem Anastasia (Miss Anastasia Miszczyszyn). It is "Exhibit A-1930" in the Noles collection.

There is no transcript yet of Anastasia's English hand-written letter but an OCR has been run on her typed enclosure (in Italian) about her band, Prinsi Raimund, described in the first, image-based page as "folk ruvido & bizzarro". The second, text-based page reads: Prinsi Raimund MA PREM ANASTASIA canto, flauti, percussioni SILVIO ORLANDI ghironda, dulcimer, canto MAURIZIO RINALDI chitarra acustica, organetto, canto «Il ramingo cavaliere Raimondo, per nulla stanco del continuo girovagare nelle lande della musica tradizionale piemontese, antica e a bordone, approda ora anche all’ebbrezza di un più completo e omogeneo utilizzo degli strumenti, formula nuove idee e varca gli incerti confini dell’improvvisazione. Ma il principe, romantico, europeista e tradizionalista il giusto, detesta l’americanismo, la crisi e il nucleare, perciò suonerà, ma a modo suo, per chi vorrà ascoltare e per chi amerà danzare.» Formatosi nel 1978, in questi anni di attività il gruppo "Prinsi Rai-mund" ha fatto conoscere le ballate e le danze tradizionali del Piemonte attraverso numerosi concerti tenuti in Italia, dove è anche intervenuto in rassegne di musica popolare ("Canté i euv" 79 e 80 a Bra, "fieste di Chenti" 79 e 80 a S. Daniele del Friuli, "Settimana Celtica" 79 a Milano, "Folk concertus" 79 a Firenze, "I suoni della memoria" 81 in Sardegna, "Rassegna di musica popolare cisalpina" 81 a Reggio Emilia) e all'estero, con la sua partecipazione ad importanti Folk Festival ("Victor Jara Festival" 78 a Tubingen, "Lenzburg Folk Festival" 79 e 80 in Svizzera, "Winterfolkfestival" 81 in Olanda ecc.).
