This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Prem Kavido. It is "Exhibit A-2001" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

To Whom It May Concern;

LOVE
My name is Ma Prem Kavido. At present I am an Alderperson on the Antelope City Council. I am- an artist by profession. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, in ceramics, from the University of Illinois in 1975. I then continued my graduate studies in ceramics at the University of Oregon. I owned and operated ceramic studios in both Eugene Oregon and San Francisco, Ca. I also taught ceramic classes and have sold my creations in stores ,restaurants, fairs and exhibitions throughout the country.

Creativity has been a way of life for me. As a professional in this area, and having been involved in the teaching of the creative process, I feel qualified in saying that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is a rare man who goes beyond exceptional. He is one of the few who has not only made great contributions himself to the understanding of the creative process, through his religious teachings, but also inspires others, to help them realise their unique potential.

For two years I was involved in creating and teaching ceramics as a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh in Poona, India. During this period my work expanded and blossomed as I participated in meditation techniques devised by Bhagwan and listened to his spoken works each morning in the religious discourses he gave. I no longer saw my work in terms of the end product but as a continuing process of creation. My art changed, in fact, by not focusing on the end result, each step of the process became more rewarding and fulfilling.

One of the major reasons that I find Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to be exceptional is his ability to inspire those who come into contact with him. This year alone, many new books on his works have been published and distributed. A community in central Oregon has been created called Rancho Rajneesh. This community is a tribute to the teachings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh by his disciples; a place where his vision is a reality. I have seen the creative process work on thousands of people at Rancho Rajneesh, Each individual involved in this experiment has been touched deeply by Bhagwan and is able to express his own unique creativity in his involvement in this exceptional community.

This commune has been built in an extraordinarily short time. It is a green oasis rising out of a desert. This past July, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh’s presence in Oregon brought 15,000 people from all over the world together to celebrate with him in silence. This silence is the essence of the creative process in each of us. This silence is so strong, so powerful. The creativity which surrounds Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh has touched many already and will touch many more to come.

With Love,

Ma Prem Kavido
