This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Prem Nirati (Andrea Gräfin von Keyserlingk). It is "Exhibit A-634" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern

I am an orthoptist and took my diploma from the University of Giessen, West Germany. Orthoptists work with children who squint.

Coming out of a family of aristocratic background (my father is Count Keyserlingk, doctor of philosophy and agriculture) I was taught to be always ready to help people in need and distress. There is also a lively and strong interest in spirituality in my family (Rudolf Steiner was a frequent guest in our house, my uncle is Hermann Count Keyserlingk, a well-known philosopher).

While I was working in my profession I met in 1975 a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh who introduced me to the teachings of this great living mystic and religious teacher who - by now has established world-wide influence and recognition.

I started reading his books and was amazed by the depth and insight of Bhagwans's writings. You can call him a philosopher, a psychologist, a healer and educator - he is all this with very exceptional abilities.

But he is much more. He not only possesses an incredible knowledge in many fields of science - this man knows, he is a sage, a man of wisdom. When you encounter such a man and recognize him you do not remain the same person.

Bhagwan changed my life. I became his disciple in 1975. My work gained another dimension. Love became more important than technique.
