This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Prem Satsang (Elke Sautter). It is "Exhibit A-1535" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

22nd July 1983

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

As a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, I have experienced tremendous changes in my life over the past 4 years. This has not only affected my own personal life, but also the people around me. Bhagwan strongly influenced my whole being in such a way, that I now feel much more capable of handling my life and all situations life is creating for me. Since I have known Bhagwan, I moved from a rather negative space, full of anger and anxiety, towards a positive, accepting and loving space. Bhagwan, through his presence and existence offered me a taste of inner silence, meditation and unconditional love. Just seeing him driving by daily, just one glimpse makes me feel grounded, centered and connected with the whole.

Through Bhagwan for the first time in my life, I experienced gratitude to Him, to the whole existence. All these qualities that Bhagwan brought into my life, had a strong impact on everybody else around me as well. I worked as a translator for the American Army in Germany and although these people did not necessarily share my beliefs, they admitted these qualities that came into my life through Bhagwan and through me into their lives. I am strongly convinced that disciples of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh through their openness and understanding of their inner beings and their loving attitude make life brighter all over the world.

I therefore fully recognise Bhagwan as a spiritual teacher and religious leader, whose impact can be felt in all areas of science, philosophy and sociology.
