Let us have a look at the scene: one single man sitting on an armchair - saying nothing - doing nothing. In front of him 15,000 people, from all over the world, also in silence. The same picture every morning for seven days. This is the Second Annual World Celebration 1983, a communion with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

My first encounter with this living, enlightened Master happened in Autumn of 1980 I was working as a designer and editor for the well known German fashion Magazine "New Mode" also available in the U.S. as well as Europe. My field of expertise is therefore the arts, and it is only through Bhagwan’s extraordinary influence that the deeper layers of my own creative potential have opened up.

For example, I prepared an edition of a magazine on Baby’s knitwear for which I was responsible for the entire contents, design, photo-work, lay-out and texts. The whole production was done with more humour and fun than any job I’d done before and was a great success too. It appeared in April 1981 and continued circulations of it are still on sale.

Creativity is not an effort but arises through relaxation, a natural expression of man participating fully, harmoniously with life. Bhagwan’s presence is a constant nourishment, wordlessly encouraging me to be creative by living creatively. Actually "creativity" is the meaning of the name "Sarjan" that Bhagwan gave me. His contribution and ability is exceptional, not only to act as a discipline but also to the art of living.

This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Sarjan. It is "Exhibit A-2246" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Sincerely,
Ma Sarjan
