This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Shanti Suhara (Suhara Ben Rahal). It is "Exhibit A-236" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

To Whom It May Concern,

These lines are to tell you something about myself and my experience with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

At the age of 19 I started my work as a Medical Technican in the Heart Laboratory of the Cardiological University Hospital for children in Kiel.

By and by I realized that my collegues worked very unlovingly and their effect on me was machine-like and I felt I was playing the same role. This made me very unsatisfied.

Then I heard from friends for the first time something about Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and began to do some meditations in the German Rajneesh Meditations Centers.

I stopped my work and after two years I went to Poona to Bhagwan. I was very surprised to found out how open the people were and how they lived there with such an intensivity.

I felt not to be really alive in comparison with these people gathered around Bhagwan, so that I started to join groups like Encounter, Centering, Tai Chi a.s.o. This gave me the possibility to come nearer to my inner core and I really felt that something was changing!

To sit with Bhagwan in the Satsang gave me the feeling of flowering life and great joy and much more - something that I cannot express in words.

I became Sannyasin and then I started to work in the Ashram with these beautiful, well-educated and loving people.

After half a year I went back to Berlin. My work in the University Hospital Berlin became more creative and successful, feeling more love to everybody I was working and I am still working with.

This year I saw my beloved master again. For 14 days I enjoyed the great festival in Rajneeshpuram which has become such a beautiful city. My greatest wish is that Bhagwan can stay in your country at Rancho Rajneesh. Also I would like you to meet and experience Him, Bhagwan, our religious teacher.

Thank you for your attention

Sincerely
