This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Veet Chintan (Christine Winkler). It is "Exhibit A-1533" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Born in Vienna, Austria in 1964, I was trained as a hair stylist. My parents are divorced and I grew up together with my mother.

In 1980, my mother visited a meditation center and heard about an enlightened Master called Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. We both went there to find out what it was all about. We loved the people there and started reading Bhagwan’s books and participated in therapy groups.

Through this I learned to know much about myself; now, whenever I believe to have a problem, I close my eyes and in the silence feel love and trust, being connected to Bhagwan. I feel tremendously grateful towards Him.

My mother and I became sannyasins in 1981; since then my mother has become my best friend. Bhagwan's love and understanding for humanity is immeasurable.

In June of this year I saw Bhagwan in person for the first time in my life. Seven days sitting in satsang (a silent heart-to-heart communion) with my Master, a silent connection, words would be of disturbance. He is here - beautiful - total. His presence changes everything.

I am overjoyed to see and be with Him and hope he can stay on and His disciples will be able to visit Him always. I look forward to next years' festival!

Love,
