This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Michela Caccia. It is "Exhibit A-2558" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Cadenazzo, August 4, 1983

To whom it may concern:

Last months in June and July I went to Oregon to attend the second annual world celebration of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and to visit the new city of Rajneeshpuram/ Oregon.

It’s very difficult to express by words the sensations I had throughout the period. I experienced emotions of deep peace, love and serenity. The disciples of Bhagwan work in a way which impressed me a lot. Work there is not considered as a duty but as love, worship and devotion. Nobedy is pushed into anything, everybody is totally self-responsible. This way of expressing creativity is a total new approach never experienced before. Rajneeshpuram is also an experiment to integrate our highly advanced technology with the ecological needs of nature, a city which became in a very short time autosufficient.

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh this unique Master stopped speaking a while ago, but His energy is felt everywhere. Seeing Rajneehpuram I understood that Bhagwan even in silence is creating through His disciples a total new vision of community fundamental for the future of humanity, threatened by an unaware use of technology.

A deep respect for nature and human beings, a combination of science and religion are the only hopes we can have for ous survival.

The experiment of Rajneeshpuram has to be known by the whole world, without the compassion of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh I doubt it could happen.
