This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Miss Nouvellon Chantal. It is "Exhibit A-2191" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am a medical student from Montpellier in France (the first university in the occidental world). I am studying medicine for 5 years now and I am very impressed by the work of Bhagwan because of his explanations about illness and, especially, mental illness.

Most of the diseases of this time are caused by the stress and conflit of our way of living, by practicing Bhagwan's meditations I feel we could avoid all these diseases and transform ourselves.

I am interested in a new way of living which cares for our true nature as human beings and not only as machines.

I found out that in Rajneeshpuram they are exactly developing a new way of life where human beings can explore much more his own possiblity, using more his own potential and live more freely inside, expanding his love. During the silent Satsangs at the recent celebration I experienced some special heart to heart communication between Bhagwan and myself (and every disciple). It let me discover a new space that can’t be taught with words but only in silence. But still Bhagwan's religious work continues, and even if people from the outside can't feel it that doesn't mean it does not exist.

Bhagwan is a person of exceptional ability and I recognize that his work is really necessary in the field of science in our society.

Sincerely,
[signed]
Nouvellon Chantal
