This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Dr. Peter Carr MBBS. It is "Exhibit A-2181" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Autogenics & Hypnotherapy,
57 Church Street,
Inverness,
SCOTLAND
17th July ’83

To whom it may concern :-

I am a graduate of Cambridge university, a qualified medical practitioner and work full-time as a hypnotherapist. I have a specialised interest in the modem developments of hypnosis -Autogenic Training and Neuro-Linguistic programming.

In 1980 I had the pleasure of visiting the ashram of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh at Poona in India, and heard him speak. Since then I have read a number of his books. He is a remarkable philosoph of human enlightenment and a great spiritual teacher. He is directly responsible for many progressive developments in our understanding of consciousness and personality growth, and in particular I have gained valuable learnings and insight from contact with the type of hypnotherapy which his followers practise, De-hypnotherapy.

I spent three happy years of my childhood living in the United States of America, and I envy that nation her luck at having such a remarkable man residing within her borders. We could do with him over here in Scotland.

Yours sincerely

Dr. peter Carr M.A. M.B.B.S.
