This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am the general and technical manager of the Ingenieurgesell-schaft fur das Bauwesen GmbH in Ottobrunn, Munich. I founded this company in 1969. After working for 15 years in the fields of road construction, pipe line construction, hydroponics and development of residential and commercial areas, I founded my own office 15 years ago and transformed it later into the existing company. We are a specialized company working at home and abroad, in the areas of communal civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, traffic planning for larger cities and acoustic consultation. We cover the whole work area in these fields, from planning to bidding on invitations for the actual construction and finalization.

During several visits in Rajneeshpuram, Oregon, I have inspected the plans and the construction work for the new city and realized that exceptional work has been done and is still happening. This is regarding the quality of the planning and the speed with which this outstanding example of town planning and development is being done.

All this is happening through the vision of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh who has inspired many highly talented people—professionals in all fields of science and the arts who turn his vision into reality. America, no doubt, is greatly benefitted by this experiment. Rajneeshpuram in Oregon has become a spiritual center for hundreds of thousands seekers from all over the world. Many of them have profited from Bhagwan’s teachings especially in the field of science where this religious teacher expressed his ideas with the authority of a man of exceptional abilities.

As an engineer and constructor I can say that Bhagwan helped me to understand that spiritual needs and human consciousness are an important factor in urban development and town planning. So far, material considerations have always been the only motive in these fields and have contributed to the deterioration of our environment.

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is the first mystic in the history of mankind who has the ability and chance to change the consciousness of millions of people during his lifetime. And he works on all levels: he is a great religious teacher, an outstanding personality in the fields of science and psychology, and a great poet.
