This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Anand Anubhavo (Theodore Guralnik). It is "Exhibit A-2335" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN---------

I arrived at Rajneeshpuram on June 20th as a festival participant.

It is a real blessing to be here and share in all that is happening.

Thousands of acres of deserted and badly overgrazed land becoming transformed into green valleys.

What was once known as "the big Muddy Ranch" has now become one of the most wonderful and fastest growing agricultural community in the U.S. Happy faces, loving people, much care for each of its inhabitants.

From a medical clinic to delicious food to comfortable housing. This place, "Rajneeshpuram", is really something.

Two lakes, an airport, lots of modern technology... cows, chickens. A truck farm which provides all the necessary produce for the entire coimmunity and much, much more. Too numerous to describe totally. I almost forgot.

A university. The Rajneesh International Meditation University. Also the Rajneesh Institute for Therapy. It is really amazing...just wonderful.

All of this became possible because of the presence of one man. Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

Without him none of this would have happened. But it did. And here it is.

If Washington or Lincoln and all the other great men, who contributed in making our country what it is today, were here, they would receive Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh with open hands and minds.

I came to the United States in 1962 from Argentina. I've been living in New York ever since. One of the happiest days of my life was when the INS allowed me to become a citizen. As an American, I will be forever grateful to the INS if they would allow Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to remain in this great country of ours.

Sincerely yours,
