This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Anand Chinmayo. It is "Exhibit A-2032" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

My experience here has been such an eye opening adventure I must express it to you, hoping the experience can come through with words.

The Festivals I’ve attended have been a heart to heart communication. Communicating somehow, an awareness of my being to me. Allowing me to see my pain, anger, jealousies. Then comes the miracle of it all, my LOVE. The real me. All through silence heart to heart.

I have participated in various psychotherapies in human growth. Never, never have I connected with myself so clearly. This one man, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh has allowed this to happen for me.

Through this I find myself more harmonious with people I contact. This affects me in my working situation too. A much more relaxed atmosphere. Looking at the city of Rajneeshpuram I see work experiments accomplished that you wouldn't think possible. People with little know-how teaming up with know-how; creating an oasis in the middle of the desert.

Rajneeshpuram was a rundown ranch that had been poorly managed. A ranch where land was allowed to waste away. Now I see the weather taking a change. Where there was no rain there is rain; where there was no water there is water. One of the creations was a 360 million gallon dam. Where there was no vegetation there is vegetation. The key, Bhagwan shows his people, is Love through silence; the love being reflected into the land.

There is a city in the middle of Oregon with no violence, no rape, no robbery or murder, no jail. How many cities in the world can you name with a record like this. Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, Rajneeshpuram and his people, offer this to you.

Love,
Swami Anand Chinmayo
