This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Anand Pashupati. It is "Exhibit A-1538" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Whether Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is a man of exceptional ability as a religious and spiritual leader is for me beyond any doubt.

I studied and obtained a degree in philosophy for a foreign university. Feeling that my body also was a part of my being, I studied Martial Arts intensely for several years. This I felt was giving me a harmony between the development of mind and body.

At this point, I came into contact with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh through a Rajneesh Meditation Center in Geneva, Switzerland. In the six years since then, the exceptional ability of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh to go to the center of an issue and clear it up with incredible clarity has never ceased to amaze me.

I now live and worship at Rajneeshpuram. My worship is as a metal machinist. I would never have thought that with my background I would ever be able to tackle the complexities of finer mechanics. As I see it now, however, the confidence and trust which Bhagwan has shown me that exists within myself have made learning and loving this form of worship "a continuous joy".

Here at Rajneeshpuram the relations among people are more understanding and loving than anywhere else I have ever seen. What we are doing here has never, to my knowledge, happened before.

Only a man of tremendous capability and understanding could bring people together in such a manner. He is a valuable asset to the United States, and the returns of his continued presence here are truly priceless.

Sincerely,
[signed]
Swami Anand Pashupati
