This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Anand Sudharm (Robert Murphy). It is "Exhibit A-1502" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To Whom It May Concern

I am a graduate of the National University of Ireland. During that time I held the position of Social & Cultural Officer for 10,000 students. I studied social psychology for 4 years in relation to Business studies including Business Administration, Personnel Management, Marketing and Political Economics.

I first heard of Bhagwan by reading his religious books and became immediately impressed by the depth and insight which he has on human behaviour. In the science of psychology he surpasses any other writer of this time and has contributed totally to this science as no other writer or teacher has. The presence of Bhagwan in the U.S.A. will undoubtedly enrich, culturally, and economically the welfare of this country. He is today one of the most exceptional religious teachers of international fame and has contributed so much understanding and love to psychology, the development of man and the vision to free man from his complexities and frustrations and to create a new man.

No greater or truly worthwhile experiment is happening in the world today as is happening in Rajneeshpuram Oregon under the religious guidance of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

Yours faithfully,
