This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Deva Namito (Pieters Hendrik). It is "Exhibit A-972" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I was born in Belgium on the 23th of January 1949. I have studied gymnastics and lateron became a teacher at the high school in Brussels. I have also been at the University of Amsterdam to become a dance teacher.

After a certain period in my life I was looking for a deeper understanding of my life and the world. I started reading books and went around to look for more mystical experiences. In 1979 I heard for the first time about an Enlightened Master in India, called Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. I went immediately to India to taste his vision and to experience his teachings.

I immediately felt that Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh was a very special person. So after three months I took sannyas and became a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. I went back to Belgium to work in an Catholic school were I was able to show my deeper understanding of the world and his mistery.

For me Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is an exceptional person because of his special teaching. Even now, being in total silence I feel he is teaching even more than before.

It would be nice if Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh could stay in the United States and that his teaching could go on without legal troubles.

In the hope that the Autorities of the United States will understand his message and his exceptional teaching, I’d like to thank all the authorities to make his permanent staying in the United States possible.

Yours Faithfully
