This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Pantha Vihari (Mr. Yoshihisa Kaneko). It is "Exhibit A-2667" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To Whom it May Concern,

I got to know Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh through His book ” Tantra : The Supreme Understanding ” in 1980. At that time I was reading many books on philosophy and religion, His books always seem to speak the truth and I felt very attracted to them. After continuing to read His book’s I felt that I wanted to see Him, so in the May of 1981 I visited a Rajneesh Meditation Center. But at that time Bhagwan had already gone into silence and body knew where He was. I was disapionted but kept on reading His book’s for about another year.

Later I began to feel that the knowledge contained in books was lacking and felt that the only way to obtain knowledge was by experience. So I started to visit a Rajneesh Meditation Center regularly. Before that time my life had been a total mess.

Life for me on the outside and the inside was nothing but suffering. While I was experiencing His Meditation techniques I noticed that various kinds of changes were happening inside of me. I thought that this was my way so November 21st 1982 became my sannyas birthday.

Since I have become a sannyasin many changes have taken place with in me. They are still continuing and at what I call a rapid pace.

The relationship between a Master and Eis disciple is something that is very much beyond communication by words. It is through a masters being that things begin.

Sincerely
Mr Yoshihisa Kaneko.
