This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Parambodhi (Malcolm Olley). It is "Exhibit A-1548" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern

I am a licensed and practising cosmetologist in Rajneeshpuram, Oregon. I completed my original training in Sydney, N.S.W., Australia, having attended the College of Advanced Education, Ultimo, Sydney, N.S.W. for one year in 1975 and then completing my training at a fashionable salon in Paddington, Sydney, called "Broadwave". I then moved to Perth, Western Australia, and opened my own business called Cococabana Hair Design Studio and operated this business for 3 years, employing at one time 8 people.

I achieved considerable acclaim from the fashion industry, advising Vogue Australia of the coming trends in hair design, and having much of my salon’s work published in national and local magazines.

I had known Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh for several years through his many books and tapes that are available of his religious lectures, before actually visiting him in person and attending his daily discourses.

It was around this time that, having become immersed in his meditations, I became inspired by his religious lectures, especially when speaking of creativity, and I became a disciple of this incredibly talented man.

I have never come across a single human being with the beauty, intelligence and truth that this man has in every pore of his body. When I travelled to many countries in the last few years, I discovered an amazing amount of interest in this man. People worldwide seem to be seeking some more positive approach to their lives and I sincerely feel that wherever Bhagwan makes his home he would become of immense value to the people, both economically, culturally and spiritually.

Yours sincerely,
