This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Prem Asimo. It is "Exhibit A-1683" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN :

I am 40 years old. I live in Switzerland. I am qualified as a teacher and a therapist and I have also worked as a building contractor and a farmer. Despite having a successful life both professionally, financially, and socially, something significant was always missing.

By change I came across books and cassette tapes of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and then began to practice his meditation techniques. Until then my whole life had been directed towards outside activity and now for the first time someone was showing me the way to move inwards and to experience stillness, peace and love.

I continued meditating and more and more I began to experience myself as a whole person. And all this happened without even seeing Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

When I first saw him at the summer festival 1982 in Rajneeshpuram Oregon I was very deeply impressed. He is in silence yet his whole being speaks. His presence has a wonderful effect on those who come near to him and influences everything that is happening in Rajneeshpuram. The commune that is growing up here is noteworthy for the love, understanding and openness with which it functions, and for the high standards of workmanship, therapy and education happening there. The thread running through everything in Rajneeshpuram is the feeling of Godliness.

In my own life, things that I experienced as heavy and serious before meeting Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, have become lighter and easier for me. I have lost the whole fear of the future and the tension that creates and enjoy each day more and more. For this I am very deeply grateful.
