This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Prem Dipamo. It is "Exhibit A-1950" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To whom it may concern,

I am an artist; stained glass is the major medium in which I work. I attended the university of York in the city of Toronto majoring in sociology for three years. Even though my grades were above average I felt dissatisfied with life and could not continue with my studies. Since then I had many jobs, but was unable to make a commitment to any of these. In 1981 I heard a discourse tape by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and for the first time in my life I felt inspired, both in a spiritual and a creative sense.

Since becoming a disciple of Bhagwan I have become a very successful artist in Toronto producing art windows for some of the most beautiful homes in that city.

I credit Bhagwan with the inspiration for both my art and my sense of business which makes me successful in a very competitive field.

Since Bhagwan has come to the U.S.A. I have visited the ranch three times, each time feeling a great energy while in his presence even without saying anything, he radiates a power that for me is full of creativity. And upon returning home from my visits with Bhagwan I use the feelings and energy I recieve while participating in his commune to create my finest art.

Sincerely
[signed]
Sw. Prem Dipamo
