This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Satya Vedant. It is "Exhibit A-2383" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Rajneeshpuram,

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Studied at the University of Aston in Birmingham in Management of Industry. I have been working for twenty years as an industrial Engineer.

There is an aspect of the work which is most troubling. As a result of my efforts in making business more efficient many have been made redundant. There is always the view that if the business is not made more profitable today it may have to close tomorrow, due to competition, when all employees will lose their livelihood, but this does not ease the aggravation of having such a disturbing influence on the lives of so many.

Recently I have been wonderfully influenced by the teachings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh who has absolutely improved my motivation to my job.

I was fortunate to be invited to attend the recent Celebration in Oregon where the presence of Bhagwan opened a new attitude to my work. Listening to his words and feeling the inspiration in his following I have at last understood some meaning in life destiny and that my contribution to the lives of the people affected by my work is to their ultimate advantage and their move to new employment even though it is enforced, will be beneficial to themselves, the employer and the country.

Yours faithfully,

Swami Satya Vedant
