This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Thomas Esser. It is "Exhibit A-2050" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I am 25 years old and live in Boston. I did an examination as a salesman in Germany. Because I came out of an academic family (my father is a Professor of Philosophy, Theology and Padagoic at the University in Bonn). I also started early to read books about religion, and psychology. It became in a way my private hobby. I also started using psychology to increase my way of selling products and the way how to handle angry customers. About 6 years ago I found a book of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. I was fascinated about his insight in the mind and behaviour of human beings. Since then I read a lot of his books and I also started doing meditations that he designed. Both became very helpful for my profession. I became much more patient with people and I sold much more. Also, I became much more. Also I became much more happy and started to enjoy my work more.

Since last year I started to come regularly to the festivals which are celebrated in Rajneeshpuram. It is always like a refreshment to be here for a few days and celebrate in his presence.

The whole place is filled with love and joy, which is like a big energygield, what Bhagwan calls Buddhafield. I have never seen and felt something like that before and I know it is because of his presence and it wouldn’t be without him.

It is amazing for me how well known Bhagwan became over the whole world within a few years and how many books, videos and tapes in all the different languages and countries exist. I think he is valuable to any country, because of his openmindedness and multidimensional understanding and he is a gift for this century. I strongly support his effort to create a place like Rajneeshpuram where people can live in love and harmony with nature and on my visits since a year I feel it happen and I enjoy it.

Sincerely,
