This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Verena Waber. It is "Exhibit A-2670" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

First I would like to introduce myself: I am a 36 years old woman and at present working as a free lance interpreter. In 1964 I completed my commercial apprentiship and for some years was working as a secretary. In 1973 I passed my university entrance exam and soon afterwards started my studies at Zurich University wich I completed in 1980 as lic. phil. I.

I did my first group with Sannyasins about two years ago. I was determined to make the best of the therapy they offered but otherwise to stay away from these people. I kept this attitude up to last year when I spent some time at the Buddhafield in Medina, England. There I saw people who had realized one of my ideals, i.e., to live and work together. What touched me most, however, was the love and happiness which these people radiated. I felt that they had found a way in their life which allowed them to live with their hearts. I also felt a special kind of energy, and although I had never seen Bhagwan (and still have not) I begun to feel that he was speaking to me through his people.

I found answers to many questions in my life and suddenly no longer felt I was going around in circles. So I finally decided to go Bhagwan's way - not because I thought it the only right way but because it is a way with love, and it is the only way with love I have come across.

Yours sincerely,
