This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Vicky D. Caudell. It is "Exhibit A-1450" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

To Whom It May Concern

I am a professional person who received a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1981. I received a B.S. in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1966. I taught elementary school for 5 years, was a director of a childcare center for 3 years, and taught psychology and child development for 4 years at El Reno Jr. College.

I came in contact with Bhagwan through listening to audiotapes and reading his books. I have since spent 3 weeks at Rajneeshpuram, Oregon, where he resides.

I feel that in the field of psychology Bhagwan’s approach far surpasses anything available anywhere at this time. He has combined the theories of Carl Jung and other psychologists who speak of transformation with various worldwide spiritual teachings into a composite that can be practically applied in life. I have observed people who were poorly adjusted, taking drugs, unhappy and feeling lonely, being changed through Bhagwan into happy, loving, extremely productive individuals. He is a genius whose brilliance reaches each individual who becomes interested in him in a special and unique way. Nowhere do I know of a person whose influence so directly adds to the quality of life of so many people. Nowhere do I know of a person whose ability in the field of psychology is as exceptional as that of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

Sincerely,
[signed]
Vicky D. Caudell
