Containing talks from two early meditation camps, this volume features Osho speaking on the theosophist, Mabel Collins. He speaks of the intensity and totality needed by meditators, the relationship between sex and death, the role of the master, and pain caused by active meditations. He also answers basic questions such as, Why meditate? Why seek? What is the difference between mind and consciousness... between surrender and blind faith? How can I be wholehearted in meditation? He answers many specific questions about his different techniques. The appendix, Catharsis and Meditation: Steps on the Path, presents Osho's reasons for cathartic techniques.
notes
From the introduction: "The discourses contained in this volume were given in early 1973 at two meditation camps conducted by Bhagwan Shree, the first at Anand Shila and the second at Mt. Abu. (...) The first series, which comprises the major portion of the book, is based on Light on the Path, a theosophical work that was transmitted to mankind thorough the vehicle of Mabel Collins. (..)
The meditation techniques that Bhagwan Shree led after each discourse (which are discussed extensively in the appendix, which contains the second, though earlier, series of talks) were a push in the direction of the path."
Chapters 1 - 17 were recorded in the Bikaner Palace Hotel, Mt Abu, the 17 chapters of the Appendix were recorded at Anand Shila Meditation Camp near Bombay.
Chapter 1-17 later published as The Voice of Silence
