Letter written on 1 May 1970

Osho wrote many letters in Hindi to Ma Kusum Bharti and her husband Kapil, then of Ludhiana. Most were addressed to Kusum, but always mentioning Kapil too. 27 were published in Prem Ke Swar (प्रेम के स्वर). This letter is dated 1st May 1970 and was published in Prem Ke Swar (प्रेम के स्वर) as letter #16. The letterhead is a typical one of those days, showing a simple all-lower-case "acharya rajneesh" at "kamala nehru nagar" in "jabalapur (m. p.)", with his 4-digit phone number and a two-colour Jeevan Jagriti Kendra logo.

acharya rajneesh kamala nehru nagar : jabalpur (m.p.). phone : 2957 प्यारी कुसुम, प्रेम। अँधेरा है, आंधियां हैं, अंधापन है। मनुष्य जैसे इन सबका ही जोड़ है। लेकिन, आशा भी है परिवर्तन की -- आमूल रूपांतरण की। और आशा अंधेरे से भी बड़ी है, आंधियों से भी शक्तिशाली है, अंधेपन से भी गहरी है। मनुष्य की जड़ें तो अंधेरे में हैं। पर जड़ें तो सभी अंधेरे में ही होती हैं। लेकिन, जड़ें अंत नहीं, आरंभ ही है। अंत तो सदा फूलों पर ही होता है। वृक्षों में ही नहीं, मनुष्यों में भी तो फूल लगते हैं। ऐसे फूलों की तलाश ही धर्म है। दृश्य में अदृश्य की तलाश -- वास्तविक में संभावना की तलाश ही धर्म है। खोजो तो सीमा में असीम मिलता है। खोजो तो रूप में अरूप मिलता है। खोजो तो पदार्थ में परमात्मा मिलता है। सिमित या साकार कहीं है नहीं। वह तो बस न खोजनेवाले चित्त की भ्रांति है। कपिल को प्रेम। असंग को आशीष। रजनीश के प्रणाम १/५/१९७०
