This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ma Veet Tanha (Renate Heinemann). It is "Exhibit A-1136" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 2 pages.

To whom it may concern

As an architect, I have been working in the office of Professor Josef Wiedemann, Munich, for more than three years. Professor Wiedemann is known as an outstanding expert on eglisiastic architecture in West Germany and Europe.

In 1977 I received the " Carl-Friedrich-Schinkel-Award"

for a work on feminine architecture and had a position offered by Professor Thomas Schmidt, University of Technology in Munich, which I accepted - since then beeing a teacher of architecture.

I first came to know about Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh thanks to Professor Wiedemann, who had recommended to me a film on the subject. Very impressed, I thereafter visited the Shree Rajneesh Ashram in Poona, India, started reading the books of Bhagwan and - even after my return to Germany -regurlarly practiced his meditations.

The meeting with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and the confrontation with his teachings have changed my whole approach towards life. I found myself more aware, less negative, more compassionate and understanding and less judging.

Since a little more than two years I am a Sannyasin - a disciple of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. And the fact of beeing one, has both helped me to become more creative and - as a result - been more appreciated even in my work.

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh - as I see it - is a spirituel teacher, who does not make his " followers " dependent but - on the contrary - rather helps them to become more aware of their own, individual potential. He is - to everyone - an opportunity for inner growth.
