This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Ron Wallach. It is "Exhibit A-2086" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has one page.

Wallach is also the author of another letter, written eight days earlier. There is enough commonality between the two letters to establish definitively that the same one person has written both letters, not two different people with the same name. There are 22 other such cases known. We may be amused by the illicit possibilities here but just as likely he was simply giving the organizers two letters to choose from. In fact, his other letter does not mention taking sannyas, so the flavour is entirely different. See also Testimonial letters#duplication for more on this.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Ron Wallach and I am a consultant-teacher of Stress Management for schools, colleges, universities, businesses, and various government agencies, I have a B.A. and an M.A. and graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

I became a disciple or spiritual follower (sannyasin) of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh on August 27, 1981. Bhagwan had already begun the silent phase of his religious teaching at this time. And I had not met him in person.

I had met Bhagwan through the hundreds of volumes of his spoken discourses, his taped and televised lectures, and through his many meditation techniques.

Even though I had not met him and he was in silence - Bhagwan communicated the most profound religious and spiritual messages that I had ever received. He conveyed to me the keys to a peace, contentment and happiness that I had been searching for all my life. Without meeting Bhagwan, I felt his presence, his acceptance, his quiet joy, and his calming silence. These experiences led me to take sannyas, to become a disciple.

I continue to have a very deep friendship, love, and communion with Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh - a relationship that grows deeper, despite his silence and our geographical separation. Such is the spiritual power of this extraordinary living master.

Yours truly,
[signed]
Ron Wallach
