This letter is one of a remarkable series of over 2650 letters amassed in 1983 to support Osho's attempt to get permanent resident status in the US at the time of the Oregon ranch. The image is reproduced here with the kind permission of The Oregon Historical Society. Information about their collection of these letters and other supporting material -- the "Jeffrey Noles Rajneesh Collection", named for Osho's immigration lawyer Jeffrey Noles, who compiled them in 1983 and donated them to the OHS -- can be found at this page. The wiki is grateful to the OHS for making access available for these documents. For more information and links to all the letters, see Testimonial letters.

This letter is from Sw Premdip (Kim Erik Norager Olsen). It is "Exhibit A-1048" in the Noles collection.

The text version below has been created by optical character recognition (OCR), from the images supplied by OHS. It has not been checked for errors but this process usually results in over 99% correct transcription. Most apparent "errors" are correct transcriptions of typos already in the original. The image on the right in the text box links to a pdf file of the original letter, it has 3 pages.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Dear Reader,

When one have everything that the outer can provide, then a natural desire arises to explore the inner thus possibly finding means of mending psychic splits.

Like so many others my own isolated independent modern ego was based on the illusion of distance and independence of itself, the nature and others. Having been involved in commerce with a B.A. degree moving into theatre work on executive levels and later documentary filmproduction with a formal education from The Danish National Film School plus supplementary education at the University of California Los Angeles I found myself a couple of years back in a psychic turmoil that I could not solve myself.

I had reached a point where I felt totally insensitive, almost sleep ing and half-dead, captured in chronic tensions with complicated defense mechanisms and an overactive head.

Checking out the different possibilities of getting the help I felt was needed, I decided to take time off and I left for India to be with a man of whom I had heard a lot, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

Despite the fact that most of us westerners for centuries have been raised in and with Christianity in one way or another, hence being familiar with the teachings of Jesus Christ and with his disciples we have a very hard time understanding and accepting the process of being connected to a spiritual master and we find it almost incomprehensible and often reject the sheer possibility that among us today just might be a new Mohammed, or Buddha or Jesus.

Well, I will not claim that Bhagwan is indeed a living Jesus, but during the 4 months I spent with him and his family in India, I dare to say that he comes pretty close to my own image of a Jesus or a Buddha.

I learned that he was one who has travelled to the end of the road and who therefore, with his love, can get the rest of us through our fear and resistance.

Before he went into his present silent phase, he used to talk a lot, to give lectures. The subjects were everything that had to do with our life. He did not talk theoretical theology, philosophy or psychology. For him life is sheer poetry, a monumental wonderful illogical, non-linear sublime mystery.

I see him as one who is anti-everything that criples man’s free and independent growth. He is for love, he is for sex, he is for good and bad jokes, he is for life - here and now.

Ever since my experience in India, I have talked a lot about the people I met. Alive, expressive, interested, eager.

No tension of unresolved conflicts, no emptiness and loss, no pain of separation, guilt or fear.

I left Bhagwan impressed, moved, fascinated, changed, loose and with all my senses open and energyzed.

I know that USA have many self-proclaimed saviors and what have you and that USA at times have had difficult experiences, but I dare to say that Bhagwan is without comparison.

What is happeningaround him in Oregon is truely a unique thing.

It is - what we call a Buddha field - bursting with energy, growth and creativity. The result of the vision of a man with unsual gifts supported by a lot of people all over the world.

Once again there is a man who is able to reach out to a huge crowd of people and whose message is life and love.

In the midst of a world in severe crisis, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh is an asset for any country.

With love
