Letter written on 17 May 1970

Osho wrote many letters in Hindi to Ma Kusum Bharti and her husband Kapil, then of Ludhiana. Most were addressed to Kusum, but always mentioning Kapil too. 27 were published in Prem Ke Swar (प्रेम के स्वर). Sannyas Wiki has images of all but one of those published in PKS, plus three unpublished ones, plus one in English published in The Gateless Gate.

This letter is dated 17th May 1970 and was published in Prem Ke Swar (प्रेम के स्वर) as letter #18. The letterhead is a typical one of those days, showing a simple all-lower-case "acharya rajneesh" at "kamala nehru nagar" in "jabalapur (m. p.)", with his 4-digit phone number and a two-colour Jeevan Jagriti Kendra logo. The second page of this letter is a small PS on the back side, which was apparently not included in PKS.

acharya rajneesh kamala nehru nagar : jabalpur (m.p.). phone : 2957 प्यारी कुसुम, प्रेम। जैसे आकाश शून्य है, ऐसे ही शून्य होना है। भीतर भी आकाश चाहिए। लेकिन, वहां हम भरे हैं। यह भरापन ही बाधा है। इसलिए कहता हूँ : खाली हो, रिक्त हो, शून्य बन। क्योंकि, शून्यता ही पूर्णता के लिए द्वार है। खोल द्वार और देख कि द्वार पर कौन खड़ा है ? प्रभु वहां सदा से प्रतीक्षा करते हैं। लेकिन हम हैं अपने में व्यस्त। छोड़ स्वयं को। जाग स्वयं से। अव्यस्त हो। और फिर वह अतिथि क्षणभर भी बाहर नहीं रुकता है। अव्यस्तता में ही उसका आगमन है। इसलिए अव्यस्त चित्त को ही मैं ध्यान कहता हूँ। ध्यान में हो अर्थात् कुछ न कर। ध्यान अर्थात् न-करने-में होना। और फिर उस न-करने-में ही सब-कुछ-होजाता है। कपिल को प्रेम। असंग को आशीष। रजनीश के प्रणाम १७/५/१९७० पुनश्चः अब तो २ जून तू मिल रही है। मैं २ जून की सुबह अमृतसर पहुँच रहाहूँ।

Partial translation

"PS:

So now you will be meeting on 2nd June.

I will be reaching Amritsar on 2nd June Morning."
