- Design and maintenance of event pages.
- (There are also instructions for editing of the Wiki's pages in general and specifically for book-pages.)
finding events
- All events are linked to from the timelines. Other access points are:
- The tables of contents of the original publications, e.g. click on the date in the table of Light on the Path#table of contents. For Hindi these TOCs are work in progress.
- The manuscript-pages, listed here: category:Manuscripts.
series of events
- A series is defined as a series of events with the same name but different " ~ 01" numbers.
- Very often these events were intended as a series at the time that Osho wrote or spoke. And were subsequently published as a book with as many chapters.
- But there are many examples of series that were defined later artificially, e.g. by the fact that they were first published in a book with that name. Notably this happened with letters, but there are also several series of discourses that were grouped in an artificial way.
event-names
- This Wiki's policy is to name event-series after the name of their first publication. Mostly this is straightforward, but we have changed some names with these considerations:
- Shorter and simpler event-names (for convenience), and omitting characters that cannot be used in computer file-names (as these event-names are also in use for media archiving). Examples:
- Bodhidharma: The Greatest Zen Master --> Bodhidharma ~ 01
- Communism & Zen Fire, Zen Wind --> Communism and Zen Fire ~ 01
- Neither This Nor That --> Hsin Hsin Ming ~ 01 (Hsin Hsin Ming: The Book of Nothing is a very much less known title, Hsin Hsin Ming is better known and recognizable.)
- Fierce debates have raged over A Bird on the Wing, a very common title for PDFs and audio, but which some ( ;-) think is ugly and stupid, and it's original Roots and Wings. --> Roots and Wings ~ 01
- Avoiding confusion:
- The Last Testament, Vol 1 is a published book (only one volume ever published). It has a selection of 31 interviews from a long series of in total 166. The complete series was published only on the CD-ROM as 6 "Volumes". We have called these The Last Testament (Vol 1) etc, using the "()" to distinguish them from the book. So the events are called The Last Testament (Vol 1) ~ 01 etc.
- Osho's explicit wish to stop using Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. Examples:
- Shorter and simpler event-names (for convenience), and omitting characters that cannot be used in computer file-names (as these event-names are also in use for media archiving). Examples:
- But there are also instances where naming is problematic, especially with earlier, Hindi events, where basic facts about coherence, publication-names and content, and dates are unknown. In those cases we try to find the most "logical" name, according to general usage.
- And there are events which as yet have not been published at all, mostly Category:Unpublished Hindi (hi:अप्रकाशित हिंदी). Examples:
- Not published as a book, but otherwise known as a title, e.g for audio: Anand Ki Khoj (आनंद की खोज) with event Anand Ki Khoj ~ 01 etc.
- Individual letters like Letter written on 12 Jan 1963 am is shown as event Letters to Manubhai Desai ~ 01
fields in the table
event type
- In the table on the event-pages, field type shows an indication what kind of event we are talking about. Alternatieves:
- accounts of talks, celebration, darshan, deposition, dictation, discourse, discourse & meditation, individual talk, interview, letter, meditation, official interview, personal interview, press conference, press interview, press release, satsang, or writings.
date
- Field date shows the date to the best of our knowledge, like "Feb 1965" for "somewhere in February 1965", or, most common, "12 Feb 1965 pm" for "in the afternoon of 12 Feb 1965" (often we do not know the exact time), or "6 Jul 1985 19:30".
- See also Glossary#am om pm xm.
location
Field location can have specific or "best known" place designations, like "Ruia College, Bombay", "Chuang Tzu Auditorium, Poona" or " Jabalpur" or "unknown" (which mostly should read "India").
language
- Field language. Alternatives: Hindi or English or "Hindi & English" (for discourses where he used both, either mixed or one after the other), or Silence (for satsangs or celebrations where Osho was present and not speaking) or unknown (there are several letters and published discourses where we do not know the original language).
audio
- Field aude shows these kinds of information:
- "Available, duration 1h 25min. Quality: first 30 minutes are inferior, barely audible. Rest good, but with extraneous noise (under revision)." or
- "Missing, possibly available." in cases of unexpectedly missing audio in series that otherwise have been recorded
online audio
- Field auon shows e.g.
video
- Field vide shows these kinds of information:
- "Available, duration 1h 25min. Quality: some video-noise." or
- "Missing, possibly available." in cases of unexpectedly missing video in series that otherwise have been recorded
online video
- Field vion can have e.g.
- Edited excerpt: Science and the Inner Journey (9min 26sec, question 3) **

- Field eventyear has the year ("1966"), to be able to show the event's timeline.
- Field firsted = Mitti Ke Diye (मिट्टी के दीये) to show the first edition and
- field firstpub shows the year or year.month ("1966.10") of the first publication.
- In a few cases fields firsted2 and firstpub2 are used to show another first edition, namely when one series of events has been published in two books:
- In case of original Hindi events, the first English translation is shown with fields firsttransed and firsttranspub.
online text
- Field txton shows a search-string to find for example a PDF on the web. It uses different formats, like:
shorttitle
- Field stitle shows the "shorttitle", i.e. a unique identifier for English publications and their chapters, that have been used systematically on the CD-ROM. Example:
- EARTHN01
- See also Glossary#shorttitle.
event fields below the table
notes
- Field notes is for any remarks about this event, like references to other events, uncertainties mentioned in Discussion-pages etc etc.
synopsis
- Field syn has texts showing a synopsis of the event. Often shown are:
- Reader of the sutras/questions: Sw Ananda Teertha.
- After discourse Osho leads No-Mind Meditation.
- The questions posed to Osho, or sutras read with the discourse.
- An explanation of the source of those questions/sutras: ([[Glossary#source_of_quotes_in_the_synopsis|source:''CD-ROM'']])
Previous/Next-buttons
- At the bottom of each event page is the "Previous/Next-block", with up to 4 buttons to jump to the previous/next event in time, or the previous/next event in that series.
- These are defined by the fields prevevent, nextevent and prevchap, nextchap. Not adding any text in one of these fields causes that button to be absent automatically.
- Obviously a previous/next event in series is absent when it's the first/last event ("chapter") in that series.
- A next event in time is defined as the next event in the timeline, i.e. among all known events in this Wiki.
- The Wiki only shows previous/next if the date is known.
- Events without an exact date do not get a previous/next event: i.e. for nothing known, or only the year or the month known.
